Speeding
At the Annual Parish meeting on 6th June 2007 the item causing residents the most concern was the level of speeding traffic through the village. Speed monitoring equipment was installed at the north and south end of the Village at the end of July.A meeting was held with the County Council in August at which the results were discussed and at which it was confirmed that there is a problem with speeding traffic.
It is evident that the majority of the motorists involved are only passing through the village probably on their way to or from work in Corby. There are, however,a small number who are residents of the village and we would ask that all residents moderate their speed through the village and in fact any other village through which they pass.
Sufficient pledges were received from residents to proceed with the Community Speedwatch scheme. This was undertaken in June 2008 with 18 volunteers taking part. It was established over the period of four weeks that approx. 300 vehicles were monitored exceeding 35 mph.
Since then further meetings have been held with the Highways Department and agreement reached on installing two speed indicating devices, one at each end of the Village. The County Council have also agreed to put the installation of traffic calming measures in the capital budget. The Parish Council are now endeavouring to get this work brought forward in the budget.
