The latest news from Lyddington Parish Council.
All villagers are invited to the Annual Parish Meeting to be held in St Andrew's Church, Lyddington (due to the refurbishment of the Village Hall) on Wednesday 18 April 2012 at 7.00 pm.
The agenda for the meeting will be made available nearer the time and items for discussion will include a report on the Council's work and events during the last year, and topics such as street lighting, dog fouling in the village and play equipment.
The Parish Council's newsletter for December 2011 has been distributed to all households in the Parish.
Notice of appointment of date for the exercise of electors' rights and Notice of Conclusion of Audit
Dates of Parish Council meetings for the year 1 April 2011 to 31 May 2011 were approved at the January 2011 meeting of Parish Council. A full list is attached. These also appear in the Meetings Calendar section of the website. Please note that the start time of the meetings is now 7.30 pm.

Open studios is back at Lyddington Village Hall on 27th and 28th November 2010. Barbara Taylor-Harris will be joined by fellow Open Studio Artists.for another exciting display of original art works. The Village Hall will be open from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. Refreshments and hot soup lunches will be available during the weekend. It’s a great opportunity to get your Xmas shopping to a good start with some truly original gift. There will be demonstrations and an opportunity for children to colour an Xmas Hippo card. Raising funds for the maintenance of the medieval fabric of St Andrew’s Church
The third Art in Lyddington Exhibition will be on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th November 2010 at St Andrew’s Church, Lyddington. The Preview evening on Friday 5th November starts at 6:30 pm with wine and canapés. The exhibition is open from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm. Admission is free. Paintings, sculptures, ceramics, glass and other art works will be for sale. Come and view all the work and vote for your favourite exhibit. Refreshments, cakes and hot food will be served in the Village Hall during the weekend. More information contact: Barbara 01572 822210. We have been advised by RAF Cottesmore that there will be a period of low flying for the station's Friends and Family Day on 17 September between 11 am to 4 pm and the potential increase in noise during that period.

Please note that from March 2010, Parish Council meetings (except for the Annual Parish Meeting) will take place on the second Monday of every other month in the Village Hall at the slightly later time of 8.00 pm. As a yoga class takes place on a Monday before the meeting, it would be appreciated if villagers would take care not to enter the Hall untill the class has concluded.

At its meeting on 6 January 2010, the Parish Council co-opted Dr John Westwood to fill the vacancy of Parish Councillor. Dr Westwood took up his new role with effect from 21 January 2010 and his contact details are available on the Parish Councillors page.
A vacancy has arisen on the Parish Council and an advert is attached. Any Parishioner interested in standing for the Parish Council should contact the Clerk or the Chairman (details on the Parish Councillors page).
It is with great sadness we mark the passing of Hugh Clarke, a villager for all his life and a member of the Parish Council for over 50 years. A tribute to him from the Parish Council is below.
